Below is our complete 2017 breakdown of the best wireless key finders. Enjoy.
Best Key Finders of 2017: Top Picks
The Tile Mate is one of our favorite, as well as one of the absolute best key finders you can buy. All you have to do is attach the small device to your keys (or anything else) and then when your belongings go missing, you can find them right away.
We choose the Tile Mate to be at the top of our list of best key finders for a few reasons.
First, the setup process is extremely simple and fast. You can be up and running in less than 5 minutes.
Second, the Tile Mate has great functionality. You not only can find your keys when they are somewhere in your home (30-foot range) but can also act as a gps key finder to help you see the last known location of your keys or other belongings. You can even use the Tile device to locate your phone if you have the Tile and not your phone.
Lastly, but certainly not least, the Tile’s ring is loud enough to hear from anywhere in your house. The key finder also has 4 preset tones you can choose from.
The Tile Mate was also featured on our list of 25 Useful Gadgets.
The TrackR is another great option if you are looking for one of the best key finders you can buy. While the TrackR has much of the same functionality as the Tile Mate, the form factor is quite different. The TrackR is roughly the shape and size of a quarter (maybe slightly larger) and comes in multiple colors (see below). One thing that is really nice about the TrackR versus the Tile Mate is the fact that you can replace the battery, whereas the Tile Mate requires you to purchase a new device (at a discount).
Another very useful thing about the tracker is its ability to give you a reminder so you don’t leave your keys behind. For example, when you start to walk away from your keys the TrackR will start to ring so you don’t leave the area without your keys. While this is a nice feature, it can get a little annoying if, for example, you aren’t actually leaving.
The TrackR ring is loud enough to be heard when looking for your keys, but it is not the loudest key finder on the market.
Overall, the TrackR is one of our top picks for best key finder because of the device quality, usability, and color choice. Also, if you would rather replace the battery than the entire device, the TrackR might be the best option for you instead of the Tile Mate.
The Key Ringer made our list of best key trackers because of its overall durability. You can toss your keys with little worry that the Key Ringer will be damaged. In addition, the Key Ringer is very loud, definitely the loudest on our list, so you will have no problem whatsoever when attempting to locate your missing keys.
The Key Ringer is great for families. It works best to have 1 Key Ringer on each of your sets of keys because all it takes is for one of the devices to call the other device. You can also use the app on your smartphone to locate the device, however, it is much simpler to use the Key Ringers to call each other.
As most of the others on our list of the best of the best, the Key Ringer is extremely easy to use. All you have to do is press the button on one of the devices to activate the other.
Click and Dig is another favorite, and one of the best on the market. It doesn’t get much simpler than this. The Click and Dig is differnet from other key finders because it doesn’t require you to use your smartphone. Now, this can be both good and bad.
Good because it is extremely simple and easy to use.
Bad because a really nice feature of the Tile and TrackR is the fact you can locate the last known location of your tracker, or use the tracker to locate your phone. This is simply not the case with the Click and Dig.
The Click and Dig comes with four locators and a remote to control that kind of looks like the remote some cars use to unlock the doors. The remote has 4 different colored buttons which allow you to trigger the corresponding tracking device. For example, if you have the blue tracker on your keys, you would push the blue button on the remote to trigger the audible alert for your keys.
We found the Click and Dig finder to be especially nice for the items around the house that tend to go missing so frequently. You could have one on your keys, one on your remote control, one on your cat, and one in your wallet or purse.
Wrapping it Up
If you’re looking for a reliable way to find your keys or other important things, the Tile-Mate or TrackR are definitely your best bet, and will not disappoint. Both key finders are extremely easy to use and work very well.
Our other options for the best key finders include the Click and Dig and Key Ringer. Both great options if you are looking for a key finder that doesn’t require a smartphone to operate.
All in all, any of the key finders from our list will absolutely help you keep track of your keys and other important belongings. Different purposes will require different key finders, but rest assured, you will not be let down by any of the key finders mentioned above.
